Director
Dr. Spencer D. C. Keralis is Founder and Executive Director of Digital Frontiers. A scholar of the past, present, and future of the book, Dr. Keralis’s writing has appeared in Book History, American Periodicals, and the Council on Library and Information Resources (CLIR) report The Problem of Data. His research on student labor in digital humanities is forthcoming in the collection Disrupting Digital Humanities (2018, Punctum Books) and the Modern Language Association publication Digital Pedagogy in the Humanities: Concepts, Models, and Experiments (2018). He has held a Mellon Fellowship at the Library Company of Philadelphia, a Legacy Fellowship at the American Antiquarian Society, and served as a CLIR Fellow in Academic Libraries with the University of North Texas Libraries. He holds a Ph.D. in English and American Literature from New York University. His current projects focus on improving library services for transgender patrons; and on using digital oral histories to teach compassionate care in medical education.
Board of Directors
Melissa Gonzalez is Director for Records Management with the Houston Community College District. An experienced archivist, Melissa has managed archives for the Witte Museum, the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston, and the University of Texas at Arlington. She holds an MS in Library & Information Science with an Archives Management concentration from Simmons College.
Liz Grumbach is the Project Manager for Nexus, a Digital Research Co-Op in the Institute for Humanities Research at Arizona State University. She is also a project manager and website coordinator for HASTAC@ASU, where she supports online community engagement and platform development for the Humanities, Arts, Science, and Technology Alliance and Collaboratory hub at ASU. She has been an #altac professional since 2012, and her current research interests include investigating ethical practices and critical methodologies for producing and sharing cultural data.
Dr. John Edward Martin is a Scholarly Communication Librarian at the University of North Texas Libraries. He serves as a consultant to faculty, students, and the university community on issues related to transformations in scholarly communication and academic publishing. He is also resource librarian for the Department of English. He has published scholarly articles on Edgar Allan Poe, horror fiction & film, and literary pedagogy, and is currently researching an article on humanistic librarianship. Among his other interests are digital humanities, information fluency & instruction, critical information theory, and comics studies. He holds a Ph.D. in American literature from Northwestern University, an MSIS from the University of North Texas.
Laura Waugh is the Digital Collections Librarian at Texas State University. She earned her MLIS degree and Digital Content Management Certification from the University of North Texas. (Ex Officio)
Host Institution Representatives
Brian Rosenblum is a Librarian at the University of Kansas Libraries where he serves as co-director of KU’s Institute for Digital Research in the Humanities. He has administrative, production and outreach responsibilities in support of a variety of digital initiatives and publishing services. Prior to joining KU Libraries’ digital initiatives program in 2005 Brian worked at the Scholarly Publishing Office at the University Library, University of Michigan (now Michigan Publishing) where he helped develop numerous electronic journals and digital scholarly projects.
Sherri Brown is Associate Librarian for Literatures & Humanities at the University of Kansas. Her work both at KU and in previous positions includes collection development, instruction, and research services in the humanities. She helped to coordinate the 2016 and 2017 Digital Humanities Forums at KU. She holds an MS in Information from the University of Michigan and an MA in English from North Carolina State University. Her research interests include Gothic literature, science fiction, electronic books, instruction & outreach, and the development of learning spaces in libraries.
Greta Valentine received her MLS from Emporia State University. She works as a Data and Research Analyst at the University of Kansas Libraries, where she coordinates assessment activities, oversees the collection and normalization of internal data, and assists her colleagues in telling the Libraries’ story through data.

Pamela Andrews is the Repository Librarian for Scholarly Works at the University of North Texas. She has an MLIS from Florida State University and MA in English from the University of Central Florida.
Scott Carlson is the Metadata Coordinator at Rice University‘s Fondren Library. Scott is the co-editor of Music Preservation and Archiving Today, published by Rowman & Littlefield. He received his MLIS from Dominican University in River Forest, Illinois, and an Archives Certificate in Digital Stewardship from Simmons College.
Coby Condrey is the Collection Development Liaison Librarian at the University of North Texas Libraries. He completed his BA with Honors in Latin and his MLIS degrees at the University of Texas at Austin. After working many years in a state library overseeing a government documents program, he transitioned to academic librarianship. His experience includes materials acquisitions, cataloging, web design, publishing, program management, reference service, bibliographic instruction and outreach. His academic research interests pertain to scholarly communications issues, developments in open access and open content, and emerging methods of collection development such as evidence-based programs like demand-driven acquisitions and access-over-ownership models. Coby’s contributions to the Digital Frontiers conference include event planning, peer review of program proposals, fundraising, hospitality committee duties, logistics planning, and moderating programs.
Jeff Downing earned his MLS degree at Indiana University in 1981 (go Hoosiers!). He has served the library profession in various capacities, including Associate Director and head of the group discount program A-Plus at Amigos Library Services, Assistant Head of Technical Services at the Superconducting Super Collider Laboratory Library and Marketing and Sales Manager, United States and Canada, for BioOne. He was also a member of the Society for Scholarly Publishing’s marketing committee. Jeff is currently Digital Projects Librarian at the University of Texas Arlington Libraries.
Brea Henson is the Administrative Specialist for Public Services at the University of North Texas. She provides assessment, event planning, instruction, and research support as well as assistance with administrative processes to her division. She holds an MLS from Texas Woman’s University, a MA in Comparative Literature from SUNY at Buffalo, and a BA in English from Midwestern State University. She has research interests in critical theory, Irish literature, information literacy pedagogy, and mindfulness in higher education.
Joshua Jackson is a second-year Communication, Rhetoric, and Digital Media PhD student at North Carolina State University. His current research interests revolves around gender and labor in the videogame industry and media archaeology.
Courtney Jacobs received her MSLIS from Syracuse University. She is Head of Outreach and Community Engagement for UCLA Library Special Collections. She has developed and delivered multiple lectures and workshops on book history and printing history utilizing primary source materials in support of teaching faculty’s curriculum and learning outcomes.

Rafia Mirza (@librarianrafia) is a Humanities librarian at Southern Methodist University and the liaison to History, Philosophy, Religious Studies, and World Languages and Literatures. Her work focuses on Digital Humanities and Digital Project Planning.
Sara Outhier is the Music Librarian for Digital and Audio Services at the University of North Texas. She is responsible for overseeing digital and audio projects for the Music Library. Digital project responsibilities include identifying potential projects and project planning and design. She oversees the Music Library’s sound and video collections, audio equipment, and Ozier Sound Recording Archive. Before joining UNT, she was the Digital Media Librarian at Southern Methodist University.
Jennifer Rowe is a Social Sciences and Community Engagement Librarian at the University of North Texas. She is subject librarian to the College of Health and Public Service and the Department of Anthropology and coordinates nonprofit funding resources at the Eagle Commons Library. Jennifer is active in Texas Library Association and her professional interests include library succession planning and mentoring, efficacy of library instruction, information literacy pedagogy, and learning analytics.
Jeanette Sewell is Database & Metadata Management Coordinator with the Rice University Library. Jeanette is a graduate of the University of North Texas, and she has presented for the Texas Library Association, Region 4 Education Service Center, and Amigos Library Services among others.
Jennifer Stayton has been a member of the Digital Frontiers Planning Committee since 2015. She actively promotes the discovery and use of digital and scholarly resources in her role as Student Engagement Librarian and supervisor of the library’s Research and Engagement Unit at the University of North Texas. Her research background reflects her diverse interests in the field of Information Science and she has presented on a number topics related to digital humanities and user centered design in libraries.
